A little history…
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric checked by hand and corrected where necessary. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — for the product itself, and for the environment. Linen is one of the most eco-friendly fibres in the world, and at Libeco, sustainable practice has always been a core value. In recent years, significant strides have been made: the company has achieved certification as a carbon-neutral business and launched a 100% organic linen collection. A sustainable future is their guiding vision.
Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by local farmers seeking additional income during the bitter winter months, when the frozen ground made fieldwork impossible. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — the beating heart of the linen industry at that time. Libeert & Compagnie kept its offices and warehouses opposite the railway station, where linen was traded with merchants who travelled from every corner of the globe in search of prized Flemish linen.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company. Together with their 200 colleagues, they continue to weave their story.
