A little history…
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric inspected and, where necessary, corrected by hand. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — both for the finished piece and for the environment. Linen is one of the most eco-friendly fibres in the world, and at Libeco, sustainable enterprise has always been a guiding principle. In recent years, significant milestones have been reached, including the company's certification as CO₂-neutral and the launch of a 100% organic linen collection. Sustainable business for a better future — that is their vision.
Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, at a time when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by farmers seeking additional income during the harsh winter months, when the frozen ground lay unworkable. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — then the very heart of the linen trade. Libeert & Compagnie kept its offices and warehouses opposite the railway station, welcoming merchants from across the globe in search of prized Flemish linen.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company — and together with their 200 colleagues, they continue to weave their extraordinary story.
