A little history...
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric inspected and corrected by hand where needed. Their products are crafted with the greatest care — both for the finished article and for the environment. Linen is one of the most sustainable fibres in the world, and at Libeco, responsible stewardship has always been a core value. In recent years, significant strides have been made: the company has achieved CO2-neutral certification and launched a 100% organic linen collection. Sustainable enterprise for a viable future — that is their vision.
Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by farmers, providing them with a supplementary income during the harsh winter months when the ground was too frozen to till. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk, then the very heart of the linen industry. Libeert & Compagnie kept its offices and warehouses opposite the railway station, selling linen to traders who travelled from every corner of the globe in search of the prized Flemish cloth.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company, and together with their 200 colleagues, they continue to weave their story.
