A little history…
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric inspected and, where necessary, corrected by hand. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — for quality and for the environment. Linen is one of the most sustainable fibres in the world, and at Libeco, responsible business practices have always been a cornerstone of the brand. In recent years, the company has taken further strides forward, earning CO2-neutral certification and launching a 100% organic linen collection. A sustainable approach for a viable future — that is their vision.
Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by farmers seeking additional income during the harsh winter months, when the frozen ground made fieldwork impossible. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — at that time the very heart of the linen industry. Libeert & Compagnie kept its offices and warehouses opposite the railway station, where linen was sold to merchants who travelled from across the globe in search of the highly coveted Flemish flax.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company, and together with their 200 dedicated colleagues, they continue to weave their remarkable story.
