A little history...

Libeco's linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric inspected by hand and corrected where necessary. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — both for the finished article and for the environment. Linen is one of the most eco-friendly fibres in the world, and at Libeco, sustainable enterprise has always been a core value. In recent years, significant milestones have been reached, including certification as a carbon-neutral company and the launch of a 100% organic linen collection. Sustainable business for a viable future — that is their vision.

Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by farmers seeking supplementary income during the harsh winter months, when the frozen ground made fieldwork impossible. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — at the time the very heart of the linen industry. Libeert & Company kept its offices and warehouses opposite the railway station, selling linen to traders who travelled from every corner of the globe in search of prized Flemish flax.

Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company. Together with their 200 colleagues, they continue to weave their story.
