Founded in 1882, La Scourtinerie de Nyons is one of a kind in France. Originally used in the traditional pressing of olive oil, these natural coconut fibres have since found a new life as trivets, placemats, rugs and wonderful sun shades — each piece brimming with rustic charm.
The scourtin — from the Provençal "escourtin", meaning a small beret — is a flat, woven basket that was originally used as a filter in olive oil production. Braided from coconut fibre, it is a naturally rot-proof and heat-resistant material.
This 25 cm diameter scourtin makes a perfect trivet, plant pot stand or wall decoration.
