A little bit of history...

Libeco's linen is woven in Belgium, the fabric is inspected meter by meter, and if necessary, corrected by hand. Their products are made with the utmost care, both for the product itself and for the environment. Linen is one of the most environmentally friendly fibers in the world, and at Libeco, sustainable business practices have always been a core value. In recent years, significant progress has been made with the company's certification as a carbon-neutral enterprise and the launch of a 100% organic linen collection. Sustainable business practices for a viable future—that's their vision.

Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders when weaving was still done on handlooms by farmers, providing them with supplementary income during the harsh winter months when it was too cold to work the land. The fabrics – once woven – were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk, which at that time was the heart of the linen industry. Libeert & Company had its offices and warehouses opposite the train station. The linen was sold to traders who came from all over the world in search of the highly sought-after Flemish flax.

Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family runs the company. Together with their 200 employees, they continue to weave their story.
