Founded in 1882, La Scourtinerie de Nyons is one of a kind in France. Originally used in the traditional pressing of olive oil, these natural coconut fibres have found a beautiful new purpose as trivets, table mats, rugs and the most charming shade canopies — each piece full of rustic Provençal character.
The scourtin — from the Provençal "escourtin", meaning a small beret — is a flat woven basket originally used as a filter in olive oil production. Braided from coconut fibre, it is a wholly natural material that is both rot-proof and heat-resistant.
At 25 cm in diameter, this scourtin makes a perfect trivet, plant pot stand or wall decoration.
