A firm favourite, the N°1 "Les Grandes Vacances" candle from Les Choses Simples. This candle conjures long summer holidays spent on the Mediterranean coast, somewhere between Hyères and Saint-Tropez. An opening burst of lemon, lavender and orange blossom gives way to notes of rose and patchouli, before the scent settles into a warm base of vanilla, amber and tonka bean.
Hand-poured in Provence into amber apothecary jars, the candles are made with 100% natural vegetable wax — an organic soy wax of European origin, certified GMO-free.
Soy wax is kind to the environment: it is 100% plant-based and biodegradable. Unlike mineral waxes such as paraffin, it burns without releasing soot, making it a wonderfully clean choice for everyday use.
To enhance the qualities of each candle, Les Choses Simples uses exclusively untreated cotton wicks, pre-soaked in wax for an even, steady burn, and certified to the Oeko-Tex standard.
As vegetable wax rinses away easily with soap and warm water, the jar can be washed once the candle is spent and given a second life as a home for a small plant or any number of decorative and domestic uses.
