A little history...
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, with every metre of fabric inspected and corrected by hand where necessary. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — both for the quality of the piece and for the environment. Linen is one of the most eco-friendly fibres in the world, and at Libeco, sustainable practice has always been a cornerstone value. In recent years, significant strides have been made, including the company's certification as a carbon-neutral business and the launch of a 100% organic linen collection. A sustainable future is not just their vision — it is their commitment.
The story of Libeco began in 1858 in Flanders, at a time when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by local farmers, providing them with a welcome source of additional income during the harsh winter months when the frozen ground could not be worked. Once woven, the fabrics were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — the beating heart of the linen industry at the time. Libeert & Compagnie kept its offices and warehouses just opposite the railway station, where linen was sold to traders who travelled from every corner of the globe in search of the much-coveted Flemish cloth.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company. Together with their 200 dedicated colleagues, they continue to weave their remarkable story.
