A little history…
Libeco linen is woven in Belgium, where every metre of fabric is inspected and, where necessary, corrected by hand. Their products are crafted with the utmost care — for the product itself and for the world around us. Linen is one of the most sustainable fibres on earth, and at Libeco, responsible production has always been a cornerstone of the brand. In recent years, significant strides have been made: the company has achieved carbon-neutral certification and launched a collection in 100% organic linen. A sustainable approach to business, for a future worth living in — that is their vision.
Libeco's story began in 1858 in Flanders, at a time when weaving was still carried out on hand looms by farmers seeking supplementary income during the harsh winter months, when the frozen earth could not be worked. The finished cloths were transported by horse-drawn cart to Kortrijk — then the beating heart of the linen industry. Libeert & Compagnie maintained its offices and warehouses just opposite the railway station, where traders from across the globe came in search of the prized Flemish linen.
Today, the fifth generation of the Libeert family leads the company. Together with their 200 dedicated colleagues, they continue to weave their story.
